    What is servant leadership?
Servant leadership is a type of leadership whereby the servant leader demonstrates the following characteristics:
    listens
    is empathetic
    is aware & heals
    is persuasive
    has "foresight & Stewardship"(p. 436)
    is committed
focuses on making the community stronger
    (Avolio et al., 2009)
    How do we practice it?
I think that some ways to embody the servant leadership philosophy is to communicate your ideal vision of the future, be truthful, focused on serving, be an example, be grateful for what others do and show it, focus on listening and communicate effectively, work on being more competent & and focus on improving your credibility, be one that encourages others, be one that shares knowledge by teaching it and delegate (Avolio et al., 2009).
    Limits:
There has not been a deep scope of research in this field; however there are findings of satisfaction correlated with servant leadership.

Whats the connection between E.I. & Authentic leadership?
In the website titled: http://www.eiconsortium.org, there was an article http://www.eiconsortium.org/reports/emotional_competence_framework.html which stated traits of e.i. such as being able to stand up and do what is right even though it might be against the popular trend which I think is also a trait of authentic leadership. in the section titled trustworthiness it states things that they can do to build trust such as being authentic, ethical and standing up to unethical actions and living true to their own principles by stating those opinions and views that might be against the status quo, it also talks about in the category of commitment the willingness of the leader to make sacrifices for the group's mission/ideals which reminds me of transformational leadership.
Whats the connection between communication & E.I?
With respect to communication, in this article:
http://www.eiconsortium.org/reports/emotional_competence_framework.html, under the area of empathy we can see the importance of communication skills because empathy requires the individual to be interested in another person, their feelings, concerns and interests and their point of view and needs which can be done through active listening, and then take actions to help them based on this. In addition, the trait of Developing others, deals with the communication aspect of giving feedback & coaching to help people improve their abilities, to reward them for their accomplishments. The section on social skills really has to do with communication in that it stresses persuasion and tailoring presentations to who is listening. There actually is a component called Communication in the Emotional competence framework which suggests the skills of sending messages that are clear and persuasive, open to information sharing positive and negative, as well as strives to ensure both parties are understood.
